“sick leave” – time off work because you are ill

“blimey!” – an informal expression of surprise

A corrupted form of “God blind me!”

“flabbergasted” (adjective) – shocked by something unexpected

  • “I’m flabbergasted! I can’t believe he just quit his job like that”

It is an un-gradable adjective and is used with ‘really’, ‘totally’ or ‘absolutely’

  • “I was absolutely flabbergasted when I saw the price”
